Manufacturer onboarding

This guide takes you from a new account to a published Digital Product Passport. Follow the steps in order.

Step 1 — Create your account

  1. Go to app.traceable.digital and click Get started.
  2. Enter your business email address and choose a password.
  3. Check your inbox for a verification email and click the confirmation link.
  4. You are now on the company setup screen.

Step 2 — Set up your company profile

  1. Enter your Legal Company Name exactly as it appears in your business registration.
  2. Select your Country of registration (this is where your company is legally established).
  3. Select Manufacturer as your operator type.
  4. Enter your Economic Operator Identifier — this is typically your EU VAT number (format: COUNTRYCODE + digits, e.g., DE123456789).
  5. Upload your company logo (optional, used in DPP public viewer and reports).
  6. Click Save and continue.

Your company is now registered. You land on the Company Dashboard.

Step 3 — Understand the dashboard

The dashboard shows:

  • Products — total products, published vs. draft
  • Compliance score — average field completion across all products
  • Pending tasks — verification tasks or data requests awaiting action
  • Recent activity — last actions on your account

You don't need to act on anything here yet. Move to Step 4.

Step 4 — Create your first product

  1. In the left sidebar, click Products.
  2. Click New product (top right).
  3. Select the battery category that matches your product:
    • EV Battery (>2 kWh, vehicle traction)
    • LMT Battery (e-bike, e-scooter, e-moped)
    • Industrial Battery (stationary storage, industrial applications)
    • SLI Battery (start-light-ignition)
    • Portable Battery (≤2 kWh, hand-carried)
  4. Enter the product name and model number.
  5. Click Create product.

You are now inside the product editor. The DPP form loads with all mandatory and optional fields for your battery category.

Step 5 — Fill in the DPP form

The DPP form is divided into sections. Work through them in order:

Battery Identity

  • Battery model number — your internal model identifier
  • Battery type — cell chemistry (e.g., NMC, LFP, NCA)
  • Battery capacity (Wh or kWh)
  • Nominal voltage (V)
  • Manufacturer name and address
  • Place of manufacture — country and facility identifier
  • Manufacturing date — month and year is sufficient

Carbon Footprint (EV and Industrial only)

  • Carbon footprint value — in kg CO₂e/kWh, covering full lifecycle
  • Carbon footprint performance class — select A–E based on your calculated value
  • Carbon footprint study — upload the supporting lifecycle assessment document

Recycled Content

  • Enter declared recycled content percentages for cobalt, lithium, nickel, and lead (where applicable for your battery category)

Performance & Durability

  • Original capacity (Wh)
  • Minimum remaining capacity threshold (%)
  • Expected cycle life (number of charge/discharge cycles at defined conditions)
  • State of health indicators — measurement method

Hazardous Substances

  • List any substances of concern with CAS numbers and concentrations

Supply Chain Due Diligence (EV and Industrial)

  • Cobalt, lithium, nickel, natural graphite sourcing country and supplier name
  • Upload your due diligence report

Compliance & Labelling

  • CE marking — confirm CE marking is applied
  • Battery chemistry label — confirm labelling present
  • Separate collection symbol — confirm it is on the product

Work through each section. Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory for a compliant DPP. Fields marked blue are required but can be estimated initially — you can refine them before publishing.

Use Document AI to speed this up

If you have an existing technical datasheet or specification document, go to Compliance → Document AI and upload it. Traceable will extract the relevant fields and pre-fill the DPP form automatically. Review the extracted values before saving.

Step 6 — Upload supporting documents

  1. Navigate to the Documents tab on your product.
  2. Upload your technical specification, test reports, and declaration of conformity.
  3. Each document can be tagged to the relevant DPP section.

Step 7 — Add your suppliers (optional at this stage)

If you source materials from external suppliers and want them to provide data through Traceable:

  1. Go to Suppliers in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Add supplier and enter their company name and email.
  3. They will receive an invitation to create a Supplier Portal account.
  4. Once they accept, you can send them Data Requests to fill in specific DPP fields.

You can complete your first DPP without using suppliers — add your own material data in the relevant sections.

Step 8 — Review and publish your DPP

  1. Return to your product and click Pre-publish check (top right of product editor).
  2. Traceable runs a completeness check and shows any missing mandatory fields.
  3. Fix any flagged issues.
  4. Click Publish DPP.

Once published:

  • A QR code is generated. Download it and apply it to the physical battery or packaging.
  • The DPP is accessible via its public URL (e.g., https://app.traceable.digital/dpp/your-product-slug).
  • The DPP is accessible via the Traceable public API.

Step 9 — Generate your QR code

  1. Go to the QR Codes section in the left sidebar (or from the product page).
  2. Download the QR code in your preferred format (SVG for print, PNG for digital use).
  3. The QR code links directly to the public DPP viewer — no app required to scan.
