v0.99.11: Commission data-points alignment, GTIN checks and external carriers

The battery templates reflect the European Commission's data-points guidance, GTINs gain stronger integrity checks, and QR codes already printed by your customer can be respected.

Templates reflect the Commission's guidance​

The battery templates reflect the Commission's "Digital Batteries Passport: data points by category" guidance (28 July 2026):

  • Battery Lifecycle Status is a required field on the regulated templates, with five values: Original, Repurposed, Re-used, Remanufactured and Waste.
  • Passport lineage fields (Original Passport URL, Linked Passport URN) are available on the regulated templates and are required at publish when the lifecycle status is Repurposed or Remanufactured.
  • State of Certified Energy is a new required EV field. State of health and state of charge on EV are optional.
  • Industrial cycle-life datapoints are required for stationary energy-storage and forklift applications and optional for others.
  • Carbon-footprint fields stay visible with the date they start to apply. See Create a product.

GTIN and carrier integrity​

  • GTIN check digits are validated when you create or update a product.
  • A GTIN can belong to only one product across the platform.
  • A public /01/{gtin} link that matches more than one product shows a chooser page listing the matches.
  • External carrier mode: when your customer's GS1 Digital Link QR code is already printed on the battery, you can declare that carrier as authoritative, and download a GS1 mapping file for your customer's resolver operator.
  • Bulk import accepts up to 100 rows per file and tells you up front if a file is over the limit. See Import products.
  • Imported products receive their battery-passport URN automatically.

Registry submissions​

  • Record the registration URI and copy a UPI for the registry's single-item online form.

Voluntary scope notice​

Passports for battery categories where publication is voluntary carry a public notice saying so.

Also​

  • 10-digit TARIC commodity codes are accepted, and your entered value is stored unchanged.

For integrators​

What to update​

  • Battery Lifecycle Status and State of Certified Energy (EV) are required fields, so products and API submissions that omit them need a value.
  • A GTIN must pass its check digit and be unique across the platform. See Import products.
