Some Digital Product Passports include an AI Product Assistant, shown at the bottom of the passport with a sparkles icon. It is powered by Claude and lets you ask questions about the product in plain language.

An AI feature, shown where enabled

The AI assistant is an optional, AI-powered feature. It is off by default and appears only on deployments where it has been switched on. If you do not see it on a passport, it has not been enabled for that passport.

What it does​

Where enabled, the assistant can:

  • Answer questions about the product, such as its origin, materials, or recyclability. Type a question and it responds based on the passport's data.
  • Suggest upcycle ideas, on request, for giving the product or its materials a second life. This runs only when you click the button, never automatically.
  • Help translate the product data into the language you have selected, working together with the passport's language selector.

What it does not do​

  • It answers only from the published passport data. It does not invent or assume information. If the answer is not in the passport, it tells you so plainly.
  • It does not handle personal data. A public passport contains product and manufacturer information, not personal information about you, and the assistant does not ask for any.
  • It is not a source of legal or regulatory compliance advice. Treat its answers as help understanding the passport, not as a compliance or legal determination. For binding information, refer to the manufacturer and the applicable regulation.
