What the Cascade Tree Shows​

The cascade tree is a visual map of a data request's lineage through the supply chain. It shows where a specific data request originated — and where it has travelled — tracing the chain of responsibility from the original customer request down through each supplier tier.

When a customer requests data from you, that request may itself have been triggered by a request to the customer from someone upstream (a brand owner, a downstream customer, or a regulatory reporting obligation). The cascade tree makes this multi-hop chain visible in a single view.

Each node in the tree represents one request in the chain. The tree shows:

  • Upstream nodes — requests that precede yours in the chain (the customer who sent you the request, and any requests that triggered theirs)
  • Downstream nodes — requests that your response feeds into further down the chain

Accessing the Cascade Tree​

The cascade tree is accessible from within a data request detail page.

  1. Navigate to Data Requests in the sidebar.
  2. Open the data request you want to explore.
  3. Click View Supply Chain or the cascade tree link on the request detail page.

Visible and Hidden Nodes​

Not all nodes in a cascade tree are fully visible. Privacy controls prevent cross-tenant leakage — you can only see the details of nodes you are directly involved with.

Hidden nodeNodes involving parties you have no direct relationship with — shows as a masked entry without identifying information

This design ensures that the customers and suppliers further up or down the chain remain confidential. You can see that a request exists at a given hop, but not the parties involved if they are outside your direct network.

Clicking a visible node navigates to that request's detail page. Hidden nodes are not clickable.

The 12-hop limit​

The cascade tree displays up to 12 hops in each direction from your position in the chain. Supply chains extending beyond this depth are truncated, and a note is shown indicating that the tree continues beyond the visible range.
