Localization

Localization settings control how dates, units, and language are displayed in your Operator Portal. Navigate to Settings → Localization to configure these preferences.

Display Language

Select the language in which the Operator Portal interface — menus, labels, help text, and system messages — is displayed.

Currently available languages:

  • English (default)
  • German (Deutsch)
  • French (Français)
  • Spanish (Español)
  • Italian (Italiano)

To change the display language:

  1. Under Display language, open the dropdown.
  2. Select your preferred language.
  3. Click Save.

The change takes effect immediately — the page reloads in the selected language. No logout is required. Your language preference is stored on your account and applies across all devices and browsers where you are logged in.

note

Display language affects the Operator Portal interface only. It does not affect the language of DPP content, which is determined by the language in which you entered it.

Date Format

Select how dates are displayed across the Operator Portal, including in product records, audit logs, certificate expiry fields, and campaign dates.

Available formats:

FormatExample
ISO 8601 (recommended)2026-04-07
DD/MM/YYYY07/04/2026
MM/DD/YYYY04/07/2026
DD.MM.YYYY07.04.2026

ISO 8601 is recommended for operators working across international markets or sharing data with systems that may interpret date formats differently. ISO 8601 is unambiguous regardless of locale.

To change the date format, select your preferred option and click Save. The change takes effect immediately.

Unit System

Select the unit system used when the platform displays numeric values for capacity, weight, dimensions, and temperature.

SettingUnits Used
Metric (default)Wh, kWh, kg, g, mm, °C
ImperialWh, kWh, lb, oz, inches, °F
important

DPP data is always stored internally in SI base units, regardless of your display setting. When you enter a value using Imperial display units, Traceable converts and stores it in the corresponding SI unit. When you view the value, it is converted back to your display unit.

This means:

  • Exporting your DPP data via the API always returns SI base unit values.
  • If you switch unit systems, all existing values are immediately displayed in the new units without any data loss.
  • DPP public viewer output and regulatory submissions always use SI units, as required by EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542.

To change the unit system, select your preferred option and click Save. The change takes effect immediately across all views in the Operator Portal.

How Localization Affects Your DPPs

Localization settings are display preferences for the Operator Portal only. They do not alter the underlying DPP data in any way. Specifically:

AspectBehaviour
Stored valuesAlways in SI units (kWh, kg, mm, °C), regardless of display setting.
Public DPP viewerAlways displays SI units to ensure regulatory compliance. Your display unit preference is not applied to the public viewer.
API responsesAlways return SI unit values.
Document AI extractionValues extracted from documents are normalised to SI units before storage.
Audit logRecords values as they were entered, with the unit explicitly noted.

DPP Content Language

DPP data — product names, descriptions, chemistry declarations, and compliance statements — is stored in the language you enter it. The platform does not automatically translate DPP content.

If your products are distributed across multiple linguistic markets, enter critical DPP fields (particularly product name and compliance notes) in your primary market's language.

For regulatory purposes, EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542 does not prescribe a specific language for DPP data fields, but national market surveillance authorities may request documentation in their national language. Ensure your compliance documentation strategy accounts for this requirement.
