Module access

Module access controls which platform features are enabled for your Traceable account. Not all features are available on every subscription plan — certain capabilities are gated behind specific modules that must be activated for your account before they appear in the portal.

What module access means

Traceable's feature set is divided into core features (always available on all plans) and modular features (enabled selectively based on your plan or a specific activation request). Module-gated features are not hidden because of a permissions issue or configuration error — they are intentionally restricted until the relevant module is turned on for your account.

Module activation is managed by the Traceable team. Operators cannot self-activate modules through the portal.

Known module-gated features

Document AI

The Document AI feature — which extracts structured compliance data from uploaded documents — is a module-gated capability. If your account does not have the Document AI module active, the following will be unavailable:

  • The Extract with AI button on the Compliance > Documents page
  • Bulk AI extraction across multiple documents
  • The AI consent toggle under Settings > Privacy & Consent

The Documents tab itself remains available regardless of module status — you can still upload, organise, and manually associate documents with your products.

note

Other platform features may also be module-gated depending on your subscription plan. If you believe a feature you expected to have access to is not appearing in your portal, check whether it requires module activation (see Checking active modules below).

What you see when a module is not active

When you navigate to a feature that requires a module your account does not have active, you will see one of the following:

  • A locked state on the page — the feature area renders but the primary action (for example, the Extract with AI button) is replaced with a locked indicator and a prompt to contact support.
  • The feature is absent from the sidebar — some module-gated features do not appear in the navigation at all until the module is active, rather than showing a locked view.

In both cases, the presence of a lock indicator or the absence of an expected sidebar item is a reliable signal that the feature requires module activation.

Checking active modules

To see which modules are currently active on your account:

  1. Go to Settings in the left-hand sidebar
  2. Select Account
  3. Look for the Active Modules section

The Active Modules list shows the name of each module enabled for your account and the date it was activated.

If you do not see an Active Modules section in your Account settings, contact support@traceable.digital — it may not yet be visible on your plan tier.

Requesting module activation

If you need access to a module-gated feature:

  1. Email support@traceable.digital
  2. Include your account name (your company's registered name in Traceable)
  3. Include the feature name you want activated
  4. Briefly describe your use case

The Traceable team will review the request and confirm activation, typically within one business day. There is no self-service activation flow in the portal.
