About AI
Traceable uses AI to help you draft Digital Product Passport data faster. This page says what the AI does, what it does not do, and where you stay in control.
What the AI does
- It reads documents you upload, such as a test report or a datasheet, and proposes values for passport fields. See Document AI.
- It suggests values for fields, and it produces indicative compliance analyses.
The AI features run on Anthropic's Claude models. Where the data is processed and how long it is kept is covered in Privacy & data.
You review everything
- Every AI-generated value is shown as a draft and carries an "AI drafted" marker.
- Nothing from the AI reaches a published passport until an operator has reviewed and confirmed it.
- Every AI output is editable, and the publish gate requires you to have reviewed each mandatory field.
Known limitations
- The AI can produce values that look plausible but are wrong.
- It can misread poor-quality source documents.
- Compliance analyses are indicative. They are not legal determinations, and the AI does not replace qualified legal or technical judgement.
Your choice
- AI features need your consent, recorded for your own user account. You can give or withdraw it at any time in Settings → Privacy & data.
- You can choose not to use the AI features and enter all data manually.
- The AI works only on the data you submit for the task you start.
- The public passport has no AI assistant. See AI assistant.
