Module access
Module access controls which platform features are enabled for your Traceable account. Not all features are available on every subscription plan. Certain capabilities are gated behind specific modules that must be activated for your account before they appear in the portal.
What module access means
Traceable's feature set is divided into core features (always available on all plans) and modular features (enabled selectively based on your plan or a specific activation request). Module-gated features are not hidden because of a permissions issue or configuration error. They are intentionally restricted until the relevant module is turned on for your account.
Module activation is managed by the Traceable team. Operators cannot self-activate modules through the portal.
Known module-gated features
Document AI
The Document AI feature extracts structured compliance data from uploaded documents. It sits behind modules, so parts of it can be locked on your account:
- AI Extract (in the Products group of the sidebar) is unlocked by the "Bulk & Email Processing" module or the "Single Document AI Extraction" module. When it is locked, its tooltip reads
Requires "Bulk & Email Processing" or "Single Document AI Extraction" module. Upgrade to unlock. - Process with AI is a link on the Certificates & docs page (in the Evidence group). It opens AI Extract.
- The AI consent switch is on Settings → Privacy & data. That page does not need a module, and it is not a Document AI module either.
- Certificates & docs itself needs the "Document Management" module and is locked without it.
Other platform features are also module-gated. If a feature you expected is locked, it needs a module to be switched on for your account.
What you see when a module is not active
A module-gated sidebar item is always listed. It shows a lock icon and a tooltip that reads Requires "MODULE NAME" module. Upgrade to unlock., with the module name in place of MODULE NAME.
When you open a gated page, you see a Module Not Available card. It shows the module name and the text: "This module is not included in your current plan. Upgrade your subscription or contact our team to unlock this feature." The card has the buttons View Plans & Upgrade, Contact Support and Back to Dashboard. No gated item is hidden from the sidebar.
The lock icons in the sidebar show you which modules are off.
Features that are not available yet
Some portal features are not built yet. Their pages open a page headed Not available yet that names the feature and says it is not available yet. Nothing redirects you to another page without a message. Today this applies to:
- Blockchain Anchoring
- Digital Signatures
- Identity & Verifiable Credentials
- AI Campaign Generator
Requesting module activation
If you need access to a module-gated feature:
- Email support@traceable.digital
- Include your account name (your company's registered name in Traceable)
- Include the feature name you want activated
- Briefly describe your use case
The Traceable team will review the request and confirm activation. There is no self-service activation flow in the portal. The Contact Support button on the Module Not Available card opens an email with the subject "Module Access Request" and the module name filled in.
